Seasons, Changes

This year has been somewhat of a quiet year, at least on social media, and I have certainly neglected this blog. I haven't been touring, or playing many shows, but this year has been one of writing, concentration and reflection. It's been extraordinarily challenging but I am excited to say that in two weeks I will finally be recording my second full length album.

Corinna Rose as a musical project is changing - it's becoming darker, more focused and intricate. I'll be leaving the hoe-down songs behind, but I hope this will pave the way for new creativity and cohesion. I'll have much more to say and share in the coming months, but I wanted to take this moment to invite you all to a sneak preview of what's to come.

On Saturday September 30th, I'll be opening up for Jenny Berkel at La Vitrola in MTL, in my new trio formation of Leah Dolgoy (on full fledged harp) and Sam Gleason (electric guitar). We'll be playing all new material, fresh out of studio. It is also the launch of Jenny's entrancing new album Pale Moon Kid (if you haven't listened to her record yet, go do it!). Manymany thanks to KickDrum for presenting this show.

POP Montreal and BC Home Routes Tour

I am finally home after an incredible 3 months of touring across the country. It was amazing to visit a number of places that I've never been before, participate in some incredible festivals (ArtsWells!!!!), and start arranging new songs with Leah Dolgoy (autoharp, harp) and Sam Gleason (electric guitar).

Folk Music Ontario

I'll be attending, once again, the Folk Music Ontario conference in Mississauga this coming October 15th - 18th. For more Information about the conference, please visit http://www.folkmusicontario.ca.

Banff Residency

Before I head to Folk Music Ontario, I'll be spending 2.5 weeks at the Banff Centre for the Arts, nestled comfortably in the mountains and finishing writing and arranging songs for my next full length record. I can't wait to share my new creations, and I'll be sure to post photos of my inspiring surroundings.

More to come soon! News about the Montreal launch of The Wharf EP coming at ya in a few weeks. Oh yeah, did I mention that Leah and I celebrated our 5th anniversary of playing music together? Did I also mention that we got to celebrate it with my 11 year old name sake (also Corinna Rose), her father and her best friend?

Video release and Tour and new EP!

Wow, there is so much happening this summer! I don't think I realized just how much was going on until this week, but I'm excited and ready for it all.

My dear autoharpist Leah Dolgoy and I finished recording a brand new EP last month. It is finally mixed and mastered, and we'll be printing copies to be ready for release in July! We wanted to make an EP that was mostly acoustic, showcasing the beauty and interplay of the autoharp and banjo (and sometimes guitar), and we invited some of our very special musician friends to collaborate, including Cecile Doo-Kingué (electric guitar), Sam Gleason (electric guitar), Ari Swan (violin) and Quinn Brander (cello). We can't wait to share it with you.

In the meantime, we recorded a little live off the floor video with Grace Glowicki of one of the singles - a cover of Hank Williams' I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry. The video will be out next week, so keep your eyes open.

For now, I leave you with my first batch of tour dates! I'll be travelling as a duo with Sam Gleason for the Ontario dates and solo for the east coast run. Don't worry, West Coast dates (all with Leah!) will be released shortly! I am so pleased to announce that my first show will be with Old Man Luedecke, one of my banjo heroes. Details below.
