Album Announcement: All the Things I'll Forget

I am so excited to announce that my sophomore album, All the Things I'll Forget, will be out in January. Co-produced with dearest bandmates Leah Dolgoy (Harp, Autoharp, Vocals) and Sam Gleason (Electric Guitar), we started recording this album over a year ago and it is finally done and will be out in the world SO soon!

Many thanks to Exclaim! for premiering the album's first single, Under the Covers. I decided to release this one in particular in the wake of #metoo. The album as a whole is a very personal exploration of recovering from an abusive relationship that I ended 10 years ago. I wrote this song about the subtleties of abuse, about feeling invisible and about trying to break free. Survivors, this is for you <3

New video!

We finally have new music to share - a live video for Under the Covers, which will be on the upcoming album.

Enormous thanks to Ian Christopher Goodman for spearheading, filming, directing, and editing this piece, to John Moon for filming, to my dearest bandmate Leah Dolgoy who not only shredded the harp but was also the best impromptu art director, to Alex Kasirer-Smibert for hopping in on the bass at the last minute, to Jon Kaspy and Jenn Nulsen for orchestrating the most beautiful sound I've ever had, to Sandra Tannous for letting us use her gorgeous space and wood sculptures as backdrop (and the blue poles and bench that magically matched my blue hat out front were also her doing!).

Corinna Rose ------> Corey Gulkin

Gorgeous header photo by Stacy Lee Photo.

Corinna Rose and I have had a sweet run, but I've been pushing my music forward and it's time to do the same with my name.

It was always a little strange to have a semi-pseudonym - Corinna Rose being my first and middle names that no one had really called me since birth. It gave me the space and courage to own the stage, to belt it out, and to do it anyway, even when I didn't know how. Yet, the name has also been splitting me in two - the stage/ business version of myself, vs. my 'real life' self. While this used to be a comfort, I've been feeling that the name puts distance between myself and my music, both present and future.

The new album is inching ever closer to being finished; it's more intricate, weird and personal than anything I have made to date, and it is undeniably close to me. It is something I can only truly connect to as Corey Gulkin.

I know it will take a moment to settle in to it, but it will be worth it.

Stay tuned, new video and tour dates coming soon. <3

The new album, All The Things I'll Forget has been recorded and is in the mixing process. It won't be out for a while yet, but keep your eyes peeled for sneak previews, singles and videos.

Leah Dolgoy (harp), Sam Gleason (electric guitar) and I will be travelling to Toronto (Dec 2) and Hamilton (Dec 3) to play a couple of shows to practice new material. It's weird, dark and walks on the edges of folk. Hope you enjoy.
